Aminos to support healing

Aduro is a prescription medical food intended for the clinical dietary management of burn injuries and wound care. Each of Aduro's 3 active ingredients have been shown to aid the body in building tissue. This therapeutic nutrition drink mix has a unique blend of ingredients OKG (ornithine alpha-keto glutarate), glutamine, and Vitamin C.

OKG

Ornithine a-ketoglutarate (OKG) is a salt formed of two molecules of ornithine and one molecule of a-ketoglutarate. OKG appears to have anabolic properties which are then when the individual factors are given separately or in different proportions. OKG has been successfully used by the enteral and parenteral route in burn, traumatized, cancer, and surgical patients. OKG treatment decreases muscle protein catabolism and /or increases synthesis. In addition OKG promotes wound healing.

Glutamine

L-Glutamine, a neutral amino acid is the most abundant amino acid in human muscle and plasma and is found in relatively high levels in human tissues.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is necessary for normal growth and development. Water-soluble vitamins dissolve in water. Leftover amounts of the vitamin leave the body through the urine. That means you need a continuous supply of such vitamins in your diet. Vitamin C is needed for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body. It is used to:

  • Form an important protein used to make skin, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels
  • Heal wounds and form scar tissue
  • Repair and maintain cartilage, bones, and teeth
